After a very long time away from posting any meditations, I have renewed my commitment to both mediations on Scripture, and now, posting them in 2017. It is fair to ask where have you been and why now? The short answer to both of the questions is a bit of wilderness wondering.
In January of 2016 I stepped down from my role as Assoc Pastor at the church I was serving in here in Colorado. The church went through a very painful decline and conflict (not that directly involved me). The Lord just led me to see I needed to leave and let the rebuilding of that church begin. During 2016 the Lord was showing me things about myself and Him He wanted and needed me to see before moving to my next place and phase of ministry. 2016 was a tough year.
Beginning with the New Year I started having more intentional time in the Psalms. The Lord has met me there in these times and they have become very rich and joyful for me personally. For the first
several months I thought these meditations were just for me. However, as I occasionally shared them with my wife and others I was encouraged to publish them. So that leads to the answer of why now. I believe these mediations are not just for me but for the benefit of God's people and this, right now, is my only way of sharing them. I pray they will be a blessing to all God's people.
For the most part these meditations are just the way I have written them in my journal. I started out going through the psalm that corresponded to the date. On January 3rd I did Psalm 3, on January 4th I did Psalm 4, etc. The format is the simple Who, What, When, Where, Why and How questions to dig deeper into a passage of Scripture. I added a "So What?" section for the purpose of taking the insights gleaned from the 5 Ws and an H to practical living today.
I am starting at the beginning of my mediations in 2017, typing them and posting them to this blog. So they will appear in order of the psalms 1-150, mostly. Not everyday have I done a meditation so their will be some skips along the way. However, as I start back at Psalm 1 in the second half of the year, I will catch those I have missed. eventually by the end of this year I should have a meditation for each of the 150 psalms posted.
Isa 55:10 & 11. May to be so Oh LORD
