In what has been raised as an issue of concern by many evangelicals, a court case is now making its way through the legal system in California. The article below at Christian Post.com explains the lawsuit brought against a Lutheran School for expelling to students involved in lesbian activities. What makes this significant besides the cultural aspects, is the constitutional issues. Ultimately it will come to this, do state anti-discrimination laws trump the First Amendment? Sooner or later the US Supreme Court will take up one of these cases, if not this one then another.
If standing on biblical grounds for behavior is declared discriminatory by the courts, evangelical Christians will be faced with difficult choices. Will we capitulate to the culture or stand against the civil authorities in favor of biblical truth? Every Christian, every church and every Christian organization should begin to wrestle with this question now and be ready with an answer when it is brought to the forefront of our nation.
